Can Reiki attunements be performed distantly? Yes, and distance attunements and healings are just as effective as those performed in person. Reiki Rays has performed hundreds of distance attunements for students all around the world, and we do so everyday successfully. Usui Reiki provides a symbol in Level 2 that allows for performing Reiki, including attunements, distantly. While there is great benefit in working with a local Master, receiving a Reiki attunement or healing in the comfort of home may be preferred by the recipient, as you can relax in your own sacred space, free of distractions, and prepare for your experience in your own unique way. However, for those local or expect to travel to Lawrence, KS, you can schedule your attunement appointment in person at no additional cost. Back to Top Is Reiki Rays Institute accredited? Yes. Reiki Rays Institute received full accreditation from  the International Natural Healers Association.  We also obtained accreditation from the AADP in July, 2003. Several of our classes, including our holistic health practitioner program, have been approved by the ABMP- Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals- for CEU's to maintain membership and/or liability insurance. We also obtained accreditation under the ACHH in 2004, but as of May 2007, Dawn Rothwell, founder of Reiki Rays, has joined their administration as the Executive Director, and as such we have decided to not advertise our previously earned accreditation with ACHH as to maintain integrity. Back to Top What can I do with my skills when I am done? There are numerous options upon completion. Many use their newly found knowledge to supplement other holistic fields such as massage, chiropractic, or nursing. Others bring their training to salons and day spas. Several have opened holistic stores and new age centers of their own, whereas others decide to give lectures, live workshops, or write. Many offer their services in their community on a donation basis in hospitals and free clinics. There are numerous options to use your newly found spiritual knowledge, but our main goal has always been to assist others in achieving understanding and personal growth to better their life and the community rather than operating as a vocational facility. Back to Top I would like to study in person. How is this arranged? Some of our courses are available for local private or small group training.  Since we were originally established as a distance educator, many of our instructors live outside of the area, so not all of our programs are available for local study. If you are or plan to be in the area, you can email us or call us at  785-842-1347 and let us know which course or courses you are seeking private training in, and we will do our best to make arrangements to work with you. An attunement is the procedure used to pass hidden knowledge of a system or way of like from teacher to student. This procedure is often done in solitude and silence, and if performed distantly is not done while on the phone or in front of the computer. Officially, the attunement process is designed to empower the recipient to be able to perform the service or system from that time on. Nothing is required of the student other than scheduling an appointment and relaxing using our suggested techniques for the duration of the procedure. Back to Top How long does it take to complete a program? It depends on the course. Our experience has shown us that the typical student takes 1 to 2 months to complete most attunement and energy related courses, with holistic courses such as aromatherapy and reflexology often taking a bit longer to fully master and absorb the materials.  Certification programs, which consist of 5 courses, often take 6 months, depending on the amount of time the student wishes to dedicate to his or her studies. However there is no time limit, so you can take as long as you need and still receive our assistance at any time. Back to Top I studied some courses elsewhere. Can I transfer those credits? Reiki Rays recognizes many holistic and spiritual healing schools and teachers, and we do our best to honor your previous experiences. We also understand that many holistic and spiritual arts are often learned at home, in church, or learned independently, and we do our best to accept your self-taught skills whenever possible/We gladly exempt up to 2 courses for any of our certification programs at no cost to you, and will exempt any course prerequisites if you studied that subject elsewhere. We do not however, issue school certificates for classes not studied from Reiki Rays. If we are in doubt of your ability, we may ask you to pass a test or submit a project to demonstrate your skill level. Back to Top What are your shipping policies and procedures? Reiki Rays uses the US Postal Service for its packages, using first class or priority mail depending on its destination. We ship our orders promptly, upon verification of payment from our processing agent, usually in 1 to 3 business days. Online and paper checks ailed to us take longer to verify, and delivery may be held until verification of funds is obtained. Most deliveries will arrive within 1 week for domestic enrollents, and up to 6 weeks overseas, depending on country of origin and customs policies. Back to Top Are there any entrance requirements to enroll? Unlike traditional four year colleges that have many requirements, Reiki Rays, as a spiritual educator, chooses to have as few limits as possible. We expect that our students are legal age and are willing to expand their horizons. Other than being at least 18 years of age and being fluent enough in the English language to be able to read and communicate with your instructor, we do not discriminate against any student for any reason. Enrollment is your choice, and no one is turned away. Does RRI issue diplomas or degrees? Reiki Rays Institute issues individual course completion certificates as well as certification programs in various holistic and spiritual practices, but we do not issue diplomas or degrees. Our mission at Reiki Rays was to offer quality affordable education accessible to all with as few time limits and requirements as possible. We do however have two sister facilities that were specifically chartered for Higher Education: Midwest University of Holistic Health and Midwest Institute of Metaphysical Theology All courses taken with RRI are 100% transferable at no cost to be applied to the diploma or degree of your choice at either of these educational facilities.
